Should Hillary Clinton retire from politics?

No one deserves more blame for the election debacle than Hillary Rodham Clinton. The American public does not want a book from Hillary Clinton. It wants an abject apology. And it wants it for free. Now she needs to shut up and go home. It wasn't like

Hillary Clinton is planning a return to politics, but not everyone is happy about it. Clinton is writing two books and launching a PAC to support 2018 congressional candidates, but many people say they just want her to go away. Furious Democrats blame her for President Trump’s electoral win and say she needs to make room for new blood. Republicans say she should be in jail. Her defenders say she has every right to speak out politically. What do you think?

PERSPECTIVES

When Hillary Clinton said she was “ready to come out of the woods,” her supporters welcomed the news. Especially in the era of Trump, many think the left needs her leadership.

Hillary Clinton’s return as a citizen critic comes like a timely shot of espresso. Freed to speak her mind without weighing the political impact, she’ll bring a treasure trove of knowledge and experience to help inform a broad-based people’s movement that is already fired up.

But at the New York Daily News, Gersh Kuntzman is not having any part of the comeback tour, even though he “voted for Clinton on Nov. 8 and thought she’d be a good president.”

She lost. And she still wants us to feel bad about that. No one deserves more blame for the election debacle than Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The American public does not want a book from Hillary Clinton. It wants an abject apology. And it wants it for free.

Now she needs to shut up and go home.

It wasn’t like Mitt Romney was doing a whole lot of activism after his defeat in 2012. Losing candidates are often politically persona non grata.

After such a massive defeat, parties and voters often just want to move on.

But others cry sexism. Bernie Sanders lost to Hillary by nearly four million votes and he’s still the belle of the ball. John Kasich just put out a new book and is on a speaking tour. Fox is literally where every failed Republican presidential candidate goes to retire. If all these men are still considered respected authorities on politics, why would a former Secretary of State be shunned?

Even some of her supporters think she should just be done with politics.

Others point to her overwhelming popular vote win. Tens of millions of Americans wanted her to be president, and many of those millions think that she would be if not for voter suppression and foul play on the part of the Russians. They say this loss is not like others.

Why should she go away? Her supporters say these haters are not the boss of Hillary. She’ll do as she pleases.

Others say it’s time for a graceful exit. LET IT GO, Hil. Just let it go.
